- Please do not photograph other patrons or staff without asking their permission.

- Taking photos is subject to conservation, copyright and data protection restrictions.

- Flash cannot be used.

- Pictures must be taken under normal Archive Reading Room conditions, i.e. seated or standing at a table. You must not put documents on the floor, stand on tables or chairs.

- Photographs can only be made under the terms of ‘fair dealing’ for the purposes of non-commercial research or private study.

- You must ensure that the work you reproduce is supported by a sufficient acknowledgement. E.g. ‘Reproduced with kind permission of the BMIHT’.

Publication of archival material

Archival material is made available for private research only and must not be used for publication. Where publication may occur in the future, it must be declared to the BMIHT Archive in writing and permission sought from the BMIHT and or, appropriate copyright holder.

If images are required for publication, permission must be sought from the copyright/reproduction rights owner/s.

Where reproductions rights are held by BMIHT, permission must be requested in writing. In return for granting permission for using images belonging to BMIHT a licensing fee will be charged.

Please read details on our page of Non-commercial and Commercial Licensing.

Acknowledgement of the source of information must be made and, where possible, include the specified BMIHT attribution so that other users can find it and understand the historical context behind it: E.g. ‘© British Motor Industry Heritage Trust' (BMIHT L001908).

A copy of any publication will be required for deposit with the BMIHT Archive.
