Reading Room

The Reading Room is accessible via a door from the ground floor Museum gallery.

The Archive Reading Room door, a tall door with push to access, located behind the Gift Shop in the Museum.

Archive staff will be happy to assist you with advice, and with accessing books and other materials on high shelves or at a low level.

Hearing Induction Loops

Portable Hearing Induction Loops are available from the Museum Pay Desk or Conference Reception.

Toilet facilities

Accessible toilets can be found on all levels of the main Museum building and downstairs in the Collections Centre.

A Changing Places Toilet can be found in the Museum Rotunda, equipped with a hoist, an adult-sized changing table, and plenty of space for carers. The toilet can be accessed with a Radar Key, please ask at the Museum Pay Desk if you need to borrow one.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance Dogs are welcome in the Reading Room. Please ensure the dog is identifiable (using a harness, jacket or bright collar for example).
