The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Archive can issue licenses for commercial use and non-commercial use of historic images from its vast collection.
Commercial Licensing
Commercial is defined as intended for or directed to commercial advantage or private monetary compensation.
Image supply
Digital image supply at £10.00 per image (in addition to reproduction fees).
UK customers will be charged VAT on supply fees. EU customers can have VAT waived on receipt of a VAT code.
Small publication (under 1000 print run) and educational publications are eligible for a 50% discount.
For print runs of 200 copies or under reproduction fees are waived.
You must acknowledge the source of information and, where possible include the specified BMIHT attribution so that other users can find it and understand the historical context behind it: E.g., ‘© British Motor Industry Heritage Trust’ (BMIHT L001908).
A copy of the publication will be deposited with the BMIHT Archive.
Book publication
Use on interior page or cover of a trade, retail, custom or reference book. Applies to a single issue of that book in printed formats. Includes use in hardcover and paperback. Permits use of image for promotional purposes.

Non-commercial Licensing
Non-commercial uses are defined as:
- Personal use for your own research or study
- Reproducing an image for your school, college or university essay or dissertation
- Personal websites and blogs with a primarily factual, informational purpose
The BMIHT reserves the right to undertake legal proceedings if you use images for commercial gain or you have not obtained BMHIT consent for use, or acknowledged BMIHT where images are used.
Image supply
You can use low resolution images for your own private and non-commercial use, under BMIHT licence.
