Beep-Beep, Build! Get ready for an adventure full of sounds, science and sustainability this October Half-Term!
Ready to get creative? Jump in on The Big Build where you can help us make LEGO® car models for local community pantries this Christmas. Build, snap a photo with your creation, and contribute to an exciting community project that brings joy to kids who’ve never had the excitement of owning their own LEGO® before.
If you visit between 28 and 31 October, join the scientists in the not-so-secret lab for Beep-Beep, Boom!, through a series of mind-blowing experiments, of course! Elsewhere, things are getting spooky, as Black Cats are hiding in the Museum! You’ll have to gear up with your trusty torches and search high and low to find them all, whilst noting down the colour of their eyes as you go.
And that’s not all – explore the ‘Driven by your Senses’ Family Trail and take a deep dive into our world of sound, sight, and touch. Plus, make sure you check out our Beep-Beep Family Tour across the weekends, where we’ll uncover the many different sounds of our incredible car collection.
All of these activities are included in the price of admission, making it the perfect, value-packed day out for the whole family. Click the button below to book your visit now and make this October Half-Term one to remember!
Help us make brick model cars ready to go to local community pantries this Christmas! We have thousands of bricks for you to choose from, which we have washed and sorted, but we need your help to create all kinds of imaginative car models.
When the model is finished we’ll take a photo - one for you to take home and one to go in the bag so the child who receives it knows what to build!
These completed bags will then be donated to local community pantries, youth groups in areas of deprivation, where they will make their way to happy new homes! These children have often never owned these bricks before - so it will make a massive difference to their lives.
The Brick Bank is a scheme run by the Museum, collecting pre-loved LEGO® bricks and donating them to the children who need them most. Building with bricks develops a child's creativity, motor skills and well-being, all important for their future development. And, of course, recycling bricks rather than just throwing them away is much better for the environment, too!
The Museum’s resident gearheads, Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin have been busy in the not-so-secret lab, investigating something ever so simple (not!)... rocket science! Professor Pickle is a firm believer in tradition, but the forward-thinking Doctor Pumpkin is all about experimental technologies. Can they settle their differences without completely destroying the Museum?
See the debate unfold through a range of exciting experiments and seize the opportunity to help our scientists out. What will you discover?
No need to pre-book, just sign up at the family activity station when you arrive.
Suitable for all the family.
Come along and help us find all kinds of sounds amongst the Museum’s car collection as you embark on this exciting family tour! We will explore the whole Museum, discovering the many different sounds that the vehicles can make - we’ll even be creating our own tune as we go!
The tour will finish in our fascinating sound-based exhibition “Beep-Beep, Yeah! - The Sounds and Songs of the Motor Car”, which features John Lennon’s iconic white Rolls Royce, a simulator replicating the rumble of a BRM P15 V16, and a Bentley Bentayga with a high tech sound system that you can jump inside and experience, and much more!
Back for one week only by popular demand!
Search around the Museum for the hidden black cats and, with a torch, discover the colour of each cat's eyes!
Available every day, just pick up a trail sheet from our Welcome Gallery by the main entrance and remember to return for your sticker!
The ‘Driven by your Senses’ Family Trail will lead visitors on a journey of discovery around the Museum using touch, sight, hearing & smell!
When you’ve completed the trail speed back to the Family Activity Station to check your answers and collect a reward sticker.
NOTE: All activities are included in Museum admission. All activities are suitable for 4+ years with adult supervision, unless otherwise specified.
