Come along to the Museum on 15 September 2025 for an ‘Evening with’ event that you simply will not want to miss!
Our star of the evening is Richard Porter - former writer and script editor for the world famous TV shows Top Gear and The Grand Tour. Over the course of 13 years, 22 series’ and 175 programmes Richard worked with Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond on Top Gear - a TV show that earned an Emmy, a BAFTA nomination and an entry in the 2013 Guinness World Records as the most watched factual TV program… in the world. In 2016 he followed the trio of presenters to The Grand Tour which became one of Amazon Prime Video’s most viewed original series.
Richard is now a prolific author with over 25 books under his belt, including four volumes of the Boring Car Trivia series, and is one half of the popular Smith and Sniff podcast, alongside co-host Jonny Smith.
Richard will be joining us here at the British Motor Museum for this exclusive ‘Evening With’ event to share stories of some of his most exciting, unusual and sometimes unbelievable things he's experienced during his fascinating career.
Returning to the Museum to ask the questions and get the very best stories from Richard will be fellow TV presenter and self-confessed car hoarder Paul Cowland. There will also be an opportunity for audience members to pose questions to Richard on his career and motoring tales during a Q&A, followed by the opportunity to have an item signed by Richard!
This is sure to be an entertaining and intriguing evening in the company of two die-hard car enthusiasts.
As if an evening hearing Richard’s captivating stories isn’t enough, visitors will also be able to explore the Museum's collections and browse our latest feature exhibition 'Beep-Beep, Yeah!’. There will even be a tasty hot supper, prepared by the Museum's amazing team of chefs, to enjoy before the main event.
Guests are invited to arrive from 5.15pm, entering through the Main entrance. Refreshments will be served in the Museum Welcome Gallery, before an opportunity to take a look around the Museum’s collection and feature exhibition until around 6.15pm.
From 6.15pm, enjoy a delicious hot buffet-style supper; a cash bar will also be available on the night.
Menu:
- Chicken Chasseur with herb and parmesan mash, buttered spring cabbage.
- Mushroom, pea and mint risotto with tomato, rocket and red onion salad.
- Chocolate, meringue and cherry roulade with cream.
At 7.15pm, guests will be invited into the Sky Suite, to take their seats for the main event. Near the end of the talk, there will be an exciting opportunity to pick the brains of both Richard and Paul in an audience Q&A, followed by a signing session with Richard before the evening comes to a close. There will be a 15 minute interval planned around half way through the evening and an expected finish time of approx 10.30pm.
All proceeds from the evening go to support the work of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust - the charity behind the British Motor Museum, so you can treat yourself to a fabulous evening knowing that you’re helping to support the Museum and its vital work at the same time.
