Dive into the world of car design and technology this Half-Term with a jam-packed week of fun activities!

This Half-Term is all about having fun while learning how design and technology shape the world around us.

For February 2026 we’re continuing our collaboration with our awesome friends from ‘FUZE’, exploring the basics of coding using a Nintendo Switch® to create a car-themed game! Have a blast at the Science Show with mind-bending experiments or join our ‘Techie’ Family Tour for an interactive look at how design and technology work together.

All these activities are included in the price of admission, for a great value day out! Read on to find out more and to see what’s happening when! Click the button below to book.

Learn to code games & apps with FUZE
Mon - Fri, 10am - 3:30pm

Join our awesome friends from ‘FUZE’ as we explore the fascinating world of games coding, learning the basics of how this incredible technology works with the help of a Nintendo Switch®!

FUZE have cleverly created an application which allows you to use their special FUZE4 Nintendo Switch® which teaches you the basics of how-to-code, to create and share your very own games and projects in the future!

In real code, you will load a race track level, select different vehicle 3D models and control them around the track. Using the skill you've learned you will be able to adapt the vehicle to change its attributes and the way it drives. What's even better, you can change the vehicle into any 3D object, from a chicken, to a dinosaur, to a piece of cake!

You don’t need a Nintendo Switch® to take part as everything is provided in the session, and there is no need to pre-book. Just head over to our family activity station in the Welcome Gallery when you arrive and you can sign up for these 30-minute coding taster sessions with our friendly team.

Suitable for 6 years plus with adult supervision.

Science Show - Design Techsplosion!
17 - 20 February, 11:30am & 13:30pm

The Museum’s resident gearheads, Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin have been busy in the not-so-secret lab, investigating car design. Professor Pickle is a firm believer in pencil and paper when designing a “horseless carriage”, but the forward-thinking Doctor Pumpkin is all about new technologies. Can they settle their differences without completely destroying the Museum?

See the debate unfold through a range of exciting experiments and seize the opportunity to help our scientists out. What will you discover?

No need to pre-book, just sign up at the family activity station when you arrive.

Suitable for all the family

The 'Techie' Family Tour
14 - 16 & 21 - 22 February, 11:30am

Join our resident Designers for an interactive family tour, delving deeper into our collection and answering the question ‘What is Tech?’

Suitable for all the family.

The Big Build 2!
Every day until 3:30pm, last entry at 3pm

Help us make brick model cars ready to go to local community pantries!

Following the success of October half-term’s Big Build, the Museum is asking families for their help again for the Big Build 2! We have thousands of LEGO® bricks for you to choose from, which we have washed and sorted, but we need your help to create all kinds of imaginative car models.

When the model is finished we’ll take a photo - one for you to take home and one to go in the bag so the child who receives it knows what to build!

These completed bags will then be donated to local community pantries, youth groups in areas of deprivation, where they will make their way to happy new homes! These children have often never owned these bricks before - so it will make a massive difference to their lives.

The Brick Bank is a scheme run by the Museum, collecting pre-loved LEGO® bricks and donating them to the children who need them most. Building with bricks develops a child's creativity, motor skills and well-being, all important for their future development. And, of course, recycling bricks rather than just throwing them away is much better for the environment, too!

Fun fact: The Museum has delivered over 500 Brick Bank bags to community pantries since the scheme began in 2025.

Suitable for 5+ with adult supervision.

'Driven by Your Sense' Family Trail
Every day

The ‘Driven by your Senses’ Family Trail will lead visitors on a journey of discovery around the Museum using touch, sight, hearing & smell!

When you've completed the trail, it’s full speed back to the Family Activity point by the Cinema to check your answers and collect a reward sticker.

NOTE: All activities are included in Museum admission. There is no need to pre-book; just drop by the Family Activity station to find out what is going on when! Activities are suitable for 5+ years with adult supervision unless otherwise specified.
