This is a sectioned example of the world’s most powerful electric production car - it can reach 0-60 mph in under three seconds and is limited to just 130 units.
Lotus’ new hypercar is pronounced “eh-vee-ya” meaning the “first in existence”. The concept was first unveiled in London in 2019 and production cars are priced at £2.4 million each.
One of the most striking elements of the Evija is its exterior; the carbon fibre body has been carefully designed around a teardrop cabin with what Lotus term “sculpted porosity”; delivery of high-energy airflow through the body to the rear of the car. This counteracts low pressure behind the car to reduce drag.
The aerodynamic system is further aided by a bi-plane front splitter, rear spoiler and an absence of traditional door mirrors. Venturi tunnels through the rear quarters helps optimise airflow by directing it through the body itself. Inside the “floating wing” dashboard is the dominant characteristic.
