When Aston Martin made its return to Formula One in 2021 it did so with more than just two racing cars; it was also selected to be the new provider of the official FIA safety cars.
Using the experience of GT competition across the globe, a specially equipped version of the Vantage was developed for the critical role of intervening and controlling the pace of an event involving the fastest racing cars in the world.
Engineered by the team based at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, the car benefits from significant chassis and aerodynamic improvements from the standard vehicle. With additional modifications to make it FIA compliant, this safety car is the pinnacle of Vantage performance.
Piloted by FIA Safety Car Driver Bernd Maylander, who has held the position since 2000, this generation of Vantage Safety Car supported races between 2021 and 2023.
On loan from Aston Martin Lagonda.
