The Bentayga was the first SUV by Bentley and was launched in 2015. This car is an extended wheelbase variant (EWB) that was released in 2022. The V8 twin-turbo engine, producing 542 bhp, has been engineered to create the Bentley signature sound, as well as the exhaust system.
The low frequency, deep burble that is emitted is further enhanced by adding valves in the tailpipe. Customers also have the option of choosing between driving modes, which can produce differing tones from the exhaust, can be selected using a rotary dial; comfort, Bentley, custom or sports.
The audio system with twenty speakers, designed by Bentley’s audio engineers, is supplied by British, high-end hi-fi manufacturer Naim. As the dashboard heads-up display has got larger, the challenge for the audio team has increased as they strive to realise more advanced systems with less space to play with.
This car is on display as part of the Museum's feature exhibition, Beep-Beep, Yeah!: The Sounds and Songs of the Motor Car.
