This car was used to launch the V12 Vanquish in February 2001 at the Geneva Motor Show. Designed by Ian Callum, it was luxury car maker Aston Martin’s flagship model on its release.

The new Vanquish closely resembled the Project Vantage concept, also designed by Callum, which debuted in January 1998. At the time, it was nothing less than the most sophisticated and technologically advanced new model by Aston Martin.

The car incorporated the latest cutting edge technologies such as drive-by-wire throttle control and Formula One-style finger tip controlled gearshift paddles. This was combined with hand finished aluminium body panels and a unique bonded aluminium composite chassis with a carbon fibre backbone.

The Vanquish featured as James Bond’s car, in Pierce Brosnan’s last Bond adventure in Die Another Day. This continued the relationship of Aston Martin and 007, which began in 1964. 

Vanquish manufacture continued until July 2007, when the last of the 2,578 produced left the line and the Newport Pagnell factory closed its doors to Aston Martin production forever.
