This relaxed one day workshop helps develop your skills with your camera or smartphone. From capturing the perfect image, to editing, using art apps and sharing memories on social media, you'll spend an enjoyable day around the Museum and in the classroom.
New for Autumn 2019 - Annual Pass to the Museum now included in the price of the Workshop.

The day will begin in the Museum taking photos. Then it’s back to the classroom to explore composition, decluttering and basic editing using pre-prepared examples along with some of your own photos taken at the start of the day. This will include a look at camera hardware available to use with your device, including filters and accessories, and seeing how these could be used to further improve your photography. You will then have time to take more photos around the Museum using your new understanding and trying out some of the accessories provided.

The next stage back in the classroom will be to look at the images taken during the two morning sessions and discuss how they might be further improved by changes to composition, angles or lighting. This will be followed by time to take more photos, trying out these recommended improvements amongst the Museum’s car collection.

The day will conclude with time in the classroom looking at the further editing of images taken during the day using various apps on phones, tablets and laptops. Editing will include image resizing, cropping, content edits, colour correction and artistic effects.

The workshop will be led by Richard Cook, a recently retired art teacher and accomplished artist with many years’ experience of social media photography. He will be on hand to provide supportive critique of the images coupled with helpful suggestions and advice.
