The world of Forza Horizon has officially arrived at the British Motor Museum with the opening of the highly anticipated Forza Horizon 6: The Experience, created in partnership with award-winning game developers Playground Games.

For the first time in the UK, visitors can step inside the vibrant universe of one of the world’s most successful driving game franchises, where digital car culture meets real-world driving adventures in an immersive exhibition designed for gamers, families, car enthusiasts and future game developers alike.

Inspired by Forza Horizon 6, which is set against the spectacular backdrop of Japan’s iconic roads, mountain passes and neon-lit cities, the exhibition celebrates the excitement, creativity and freedom that defines the Horizon series. The ongoing popularity and success of the franchise is continuing with Forza Horizon 6 reaching over 6 million players across all platforms a week after its launch.

At the heart of the exhibition, sitting on the mezzanine floor of the museum are the cars themselves - a line-up that spans generations, geographies and genres of car culture.

Peter Armstrong, CEO of the British Motor Museum said “More people are experiencing car culture through screens than ever before. At the British Motor Museum, we want to be the bridge between that digital world and the real one, and our partnership with Playground Games is exactly that in action. For the first time, Forza Horizon comes off the screen and into the home of British motoring. Something tactile, visceral and community-driven – for Forza fans, car lovers, gamers and families who want something they won't find anywhere else.”

Forza Horizon 6: The Experience runs until the end of November, giving visitors plenty of opportunity to experience this unique fusion of gaming, innovation and automotive culture.

From JDM icons like the Nissan Skyline GT-R to rally legends including the Lancia Stratos, the exhibition celebrates the heroes of the road and the screen. Hypercars such as the Jaguar C-X75 sit alongside cult favourites like the much-loved Peel P50!

Modern performance and luxury are equally represented, from the Bentley Continental GT Convertible and Lotus Emira to the latest Toyota Land Cruiser. Together, they tell a story of speed, innovation and identity, connecting digital racing to the real-world machines that inspire it.

Alongside the cars will be the Xbox interactive zone holding state-of-the-art game simulators. You can choose to either take a cruise through Japan’s stunning scenery or compete in one of Forza Horizon 6’s many racing challenges.

The exhibition has been designed as a six-zone experience, guiding visitors through the worlds of gaming, design, engineering and community. Alongside the chance to see real cars from the game, visitors can explore displays on the making of Forza Horizon 6, a family activity area and plenty of photo opportunities.

The educational zone explores how modern video games are created, highlighting the artistry, technology and teamwork involved. Visitors can discover insights into careers within the games industry and behind-the-scenes stories from the development process, designed to inspire future creators, coders, artists and engineers.

Outreach & Education

Forza Horizon 6: The Experience will also form the centrepiece of an expanded outreach programme, using the exhibition as a platform to engage schools, universities, families and community groups through a wide range of educational and inclusive activities.

The programme will include curriculum-linked workshops focused on design, STEM and media. Career talks and development team presentations and Q&A sessions.

Community Events & Focused Exhibition Days

The exhibition forms part of the British Motor Museum’s wider offering, giving visitors a full day of interactive experiences beyond the gallery space itself. Families can explore over 400 historic British vehicles across the Museum, take part in hands-on activities for children, enjoy outdoor play areas, and discover engaging trails and family-friendly exhibitions.

Additional planned community-focused programming will include, girls-only workshops encouraging participation in gaming and technology, quiet hours and SEND-friendly sessions designed for accessibility and inclusion as well as enthusiast evening events celebrating gaming and automotive culture.

This collaboration positions the British Motor Museum as more than an exhibition space – it becomes a platform where heritage meets innovation, and where the future of car culture is explored alongside its past.

Peter Armstrong CEO, British Motor Museum said “The British Motor Museum is no stranger to hosting major automotive and cultural events, and the launch of Forza Horizon 6: The Experience was a true example of that. Welcoming more than 5,000 visitors, alongside an incredible community of exhibitors, partners and fans, it demonstrated just how powerful the connection between gaming, car culture and real-world engineering has become.

We’re incredibly proud to be working with Playground Games on such a landmark project, from now until the end of November, the exhibition will continue to evolve through workshops, talks, community events and educational programming designed to inspire future generations of creators, engineers and automotive enthusiasts.”

Rebekah Simpson, Chief of Staff at Playground Games, said “The success of the launch event and subsequent outpouring of love and appreciation for Forza Horizon 6 and the team at Playground Games has been incredible and really confirmed the value of developing “Forza Horizon 6 – The Experience”. We wanted to celebrate the game, the people who make it, the fans and players, the car community and our partnership with British Motor Museum – I think we did that and then some!

The British Motor Museum did a fantastic job managing the enormous number of visitors on the day and put a huge amount of effort in to curating an exhibit that our fans want to see and that truly represents the diverse range of vehicles available in-game.

To be able to bring elements of the game to life in a way that unites the gaming community with the automotive community is truly special. Whether you’re an avid fan, a first-time player or a long-time member of the museum with no knowledge of video games there is something for everyone!”
