Museum shortlisted for prestigious European Museum of the Year Award

Inside the Museum

The British Motor Museum has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2019 European Museum of the Year (EMYA) Award.

The Museum is one of three British Museum's nominated following a visit from the EMYA judges last year. The other contenders are Brunel's SS Great Britain in Bristol and The D-Day Story at Portsmouth. Last year's EMYA winner was London’s Design Museum.

Promoted by the European Museum Forum, the award promotes innovative approaches in the museum sector, particularly in developing the public quality of museum exhibitions and new developments in the sector.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony during the Annual Conference of the European Museum Forum in Sarajevo on 25 May.

Tim Bryan, Head of Collections at the British Motor Museum said: "We are delighted that the Museum has been nominated for such an important and prestigious award. The European Museum of the Year showcases forty of the best Museums in Europe. Being shortlisted is recognition of the great work undertaken by the team and the wonderful collections we have here at the Museum".

We will keep you updated with how we get on in May.
