The People's 50

Scouts Group at the British Motor Museum

The People’s 50 has evolved through community projects that have taken place at the Museum this year. Local people including ex motor industry employees, volunteers and youth  groups have had the opportunity to talk about, and in some cases donate, objects or ‘motoring treasures’  they feel represent an important part of the story of the motor industry. Some objects chosen also hold great personal significance.

Fifty objects chosen by local people will be displayed in rotation over the coming year. A blog will also be featured on the Museum website recording memories and contributions.

Information about each object can be found in the folder by the case. You can also look at images from our project on the screen.

We hope you enjoy exploring the ‘The People’s 50’ and maybe it will help to bring back some British motoring memories of your own!

An intriguing contribution from Ruth Tuckwell, Oxford.
