Sketching from Automotive History

10AM - 4PM
£40 per person

A one day sketching class with artist Richard Cook. Suitable for beginners, intermediates or as a refresher.

Discover a range of valuable techniques for producing a car study from start to finish. Build your confidence in your sketching by developing techniques while exploring tone and composition. Students will learn how to capture a true likeness and character of their chosen vehicle from a detailed area or an entire car in order to bring their artwork to life!

Richard Cook is an artist and art teacher, with many years’ experience. He will inspire you to experiment with your composition and give you the confidence to try new sketching techniques.

Let your drawing be inspired by the best of British automotive heritage.

Course Content:

  • Basic drawing hints and tips - how to get the most out of a pencil!
  • Rules of basic composition and finding a new angle.
  • Ways of drawing metal and painted textures such as polished and matt surfaces.
  • Individual tuition/pointers designed to improve your drawing.

 

What to bring with you:

Essential:

  • A range of 4 or 5 pencils, ideally H through to 6b or 9b.
  • Erasers - kneadable and plastic.
  • 80gm sketch pad, thin paper to cover drawings.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Camera for photo-reference
  • Small foldable tripod seat or pad to sit on
  • Textured drawing pad 150gms or heavier or coloured sketchpad

 

Price: £40 per person to include course, morning coffee and entry to the Museum.
